DESPITE another best on ground performance on Saturday night, Geelong champion Corey Enright will take his time before deciding whether to play on in 2017.

The inevitable question about his future came as he prepares to become the Cats new games record holder when the plays his 326th game on Friday night against the Western Bulldogs.

But as he has done so often in 325 games with Geelong, he rebounded it with ease.

"You'll probably have to wait and see really because form can change quite quickly," Enright said.

"It's all about this week."

Enright did not reveal his intentions about playing on in 2016 until he had played the final game for the season.

He is unlikely to make a song and dance about his future either way when decision time arrives.

Enright has won his two best and fairests in premiership years with the Cats, playing a key role in the 2007, ‘09 and ‘11 flags.

He has earned All Australian selection five times.

The 34-year-old joked he was coming off a low base when he arrived in 1999.

"For anyone who saw me when I first came down I wasn't very good and I didn't think I was going to hang around too long. It took me 18 months to find my feet and settle down," Enright said.

"I was homesick and I was playing catch-up to the rest of the guys that got drafted – we had seven guys that got drafted that year.

"I was coming from a low base, I suppose, and I had to put in a lot of work."

Enright joined the club as pick No.47 in the 1999 NAB AFL Draft, the same draft as Joel Corey, David Spriggs, Ezra Bray, Daniel Foster, Paul Chapman and Cameron Ling.

He takes the games record from Ian Nankervis, who played 325 games between 1967-1983.

"You have just got to evolve and try to keep up with the game," Enright said.

"For me it's just trying to be flexible and to try to improve."
