ADELAIDE midfielder Rory Sloane's Brownlow Medal hopes are over after he was accepted a one-match ban for his late spoil on Brad Ebert.

Sloane, who was among the top five contenders for this year's award, is now ineligible for the Brownlowl.

AFL.com.au's Brownlow Predictor has him third, three votes behind leader Patrick Dangerfield.

The incident was graded by the Match Review Panel as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. 

Sloane arrived late to a marking contest and struck Ebert high with closed first and an outstretched arm in what the Crows could yet claim was a legitimate spoiling attempt.

The 26-year-old would risk missing the Crows' first final, however, if he challenged and was unsuccessful.

Sydney Swans defender Heath Grundy, who was offered a $1000 fine for rough conduct against North Melbourne's Lindsay Thomas, has also accepted his penalty. 

Hawthorn midfielder Jordan Lewis was cleared of striking West Coast ruckman Scott Lycett after it was deemed there was insufficient high contact. 

"Contact was initially made to the shoulder of the West Coast player, before high contact was made," the MRP said in its findings.

"Lycett had already been awarded a free kick and it was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence."

Fremantle big man Michael Apeness was cleared for a bump on Greater Western Sydney defender Heath Shaw because "the force used in the contact was not sufficient to constitute a reportable offence".
