• Who's hanging up the boots? Keep track of 2016's retirements and delistings
ESSENDON has cut Tom Wallis, the son of two-time premiership player Dean.
The Bombers announced the delisting on Wednesday, confirming the rookie-listed player would not get another year at the club.
He was selected last year as a father-son selection at the rookie draft with pick No.54 and played across half-back.
The club has staggered its delistings so far this off-season, announcing the exits of James Gwilt, Jason Ashby, Shaun Edwards and Wallis in individual form. Wallis failed to play a senior game for Essendon.
"We have faced challenging decisions with our list management and competition for spots is very tough," Essendon football manager Rob Kerr said.
"Tom is a great young player who we invested time in his development via our 'James Hird Academy' and saw him make an impact throughout the 2016 VFL season."
Dean Wallis played 127 games for the Bombers between 1987 and 2001, including the 1993 and 2000 flags.
