WEST Coast has nominated Jake Waterman as a father-son selection ahead of next month's NAB AFL Draft.
Waterman, 18, is the son of two-time Eagles premiership player Chris Waterman.
His older brother Alec was a father-son selection for West Coast in the 2014 draft.
But Alec was struck down by glandular fever and a post-viral fatigue illness during his two years on the Eagles' list and was delisted at the end of this season without playing a senior game for the club.
Jake Waterman has been part of the AFL-AIS academy. He captained WA at the NAB AFL under-18 championships and kicked five goals on his WAFL debut for Claremont this season.
Waterman also trained with West Coast during the season as part of the AFL-AIS academy program.
West Coast's national recruiting manager Rohan O'Brien said the club was keen to secure him as a father-son recruit in the draft.
"We've seen Jake for a three-year period since his under-16 carnival with WA and identified him as a 'draftable' player," O'Brien told westcoasteagles.com.au.
"We were really pleased to nominate Jake and while both parties understand there are no guarantees on draft night, we're hopeful he ends up at the West Coast Eagles."
Waterman played four WAFL senior matches this season, averaging 12 disposals, four marks and kicked seven goals. He returned to WAFL colts level for the finals series and helped Claremont to a premiership, gathering 20 disposals and kicking four goals in the Grand Final.
Waterman participated in the NAB AFL Draft Combine last weekend.
West Coast currently holds picks 12, 33, 51, 69, 87 and 105 and will need to match any bid made by rivals to secure Waterman as a father-son selection.
