SYDNEY Swans midfielder Dan Hannebery won't require knee surgery despite suffering a serious medial ligament injury late in the Grand Final loss to the Bulldogs.
Scans have revealed the extent of the 25-year-old's injury, which will require him to wear a precautionary brace on the injured left leg over summer, rather than go under the knife.
Hannebery suffered the injury in the final quarter of the Grand Final when Easton Wood slid into his knee and there were serious concerns as the former Rising Star winner hobbled off the ground.
The Swans believe Hannebery will be ready to fully participate in pre-season training.

Two of his teammates also have knee concerns, with Gary Rohan and Jeremy Laidler each having an arthroscope at the end of the season. Both are expected to join fully in preparation for the 2017 season.
Ruckman Sam Naismith has had a shoulder reconstruction and will spend a substantial part of the off-season in rehabilitation mode.
"Sam, in the last couple of weeks of his season was really brave in that he had quite a loose shoulder, so he’s had a shoulder reconstruction," said Swans football manager Tom Harley.
"They (shoulder reconstructions) can be a reasonably lengthy recovery, but we certainly don’t expect it to linger into the new year."
