YOUNG defender Tom Barrass returned to West Coast training on light duties after his heavy fall earlier in the week, but veteran Sam Mitchell was a notable absentee from Wembley Sports Park on Friday.
Barrass, who has re-signed with the Eagles until 2019, was back in action following a dangerous landing on his back in a marking contest during Monday's session.
But the 21-year-old was kept to a modified program, running laps and kicking with spearhead Josh Kennedy, before the duo left the track early.
Liam Duggan also departed training before the rest of his teammates after completing some straight-line strides, with the bulked-up midfielder being treated cautiously following a hamstring complaint.
Mitchell rolled his left ankle on a stick in a minor incident as he ran around the boundary on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old former Hawthorn champion, who revealed this week he has signed a four-year playing and coaching deal with the Eagles, was restricted to cycling on a stationary bike at Eagles headquarters on Friday.
Ruckman Jonathan Giles also wasn't sighted during West Coast's two-and-a-half hour session in steamy conditions.
However, fellow big man Scott Lycett continued to step up his program in his comeback from a PCL reconstruction.
The 203cm ruckman joined in full-ground ball movement and stoppage drills as he builds towards an early-season return.
Nathan Vardy and Drew Petrie, both recruited to cover for Lycett and Nic Naitanui (ACL), were again prominent in match simulation exercises.
Former Cats big man Vardy spent the majority of time in the ruck, while ex-North Melbourne forward Petrie was a handful with clever movement off the ball playing deep in attack.
All Australian defender Jeremy McGovern was also stationed up forward for long stints.
Usual suspects Luke Shuey and Andrew Gaff racked up disposals in match simulation drills, but tough nuts Jack Redden and Mark Hutchings also shone with their hard work in the clinches.
The Eagles' six indigenous players – Lewis Jetta, Josh Hill, Sharrod Wellingham, Willie Rioli, Malcolm Karpany and Francis Watson – were missing from training due to them attending the AFL Players' Association camp in Broome.
