ADELAIDE key forward Josh Jenkins appears to have escaped serious injury after copping a heavy knock in Saturday's win over Hawthorn.
Jenkins was taken to Epworth Hospital after he clashed with Hawthorn first-gamer Teia Miles in a marking contest during the first quarter at the MCG.
The club later confirmed that initial scans showed no structural damage to his ribs or internal organs, but he will undergo further assessment.
Jenkins fell to the ground clutching his ribs after the early incident and was slow to get to his feet with play being held up for a minute.
He walked slowly from the ground with the trainers and went down to the rooms immediately for assessment with paramedics treating him soon after.
The 28-year-old kicked three goals in the opening game against Greater Western Sydney.
