ANOTHER 19 behinds against Greater Western Sydney has left Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge frustrated and looking for answers.

The premiers dominated the Giants at various stages during their two-point loss in Canberra on Friday night, but kicked just nine goals from 28 scoring shots, making it 56 behinds over the last three games.

Beveridge said the players paid a high price for their missed opportunities in front of goal after getting away with it in their last two games, which produced wins over North Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions. 

"As the game unfolds they just add up, and you never fret or get concerned at the time because you're just looking to kick the next goal, but ultimately we're making it really hard work and shooting ourselves in the foot," he said.

"It's going to be difficult to win these clutch games when you're a bit inefficient, and we just missed too many gettable ones.

"Its purely skill, and we've got to work on it.

"Our players who are missing will hopefully get better over time. There's a sheen of quality you need in your forward line and it just hasn't been there for us. 

"It's always going to be to hard to beat them (GWS), but tonight we had our chances." 

It wasn't only the Bulldogs' poor finishing in front of goal that had Beveridge scratching his head, with several free kicks paid against both sides on the night for not doing enough to keep the ball in play. 

Two puzzling calls went against Tom Boyd and Jake Stringer, while Giants forward Toby Greene wasn't penalised in the dying stages of the match, despite poking the footy out of bounds less than three metres from the line.

"What do you want me to do with that? I can't (comment), I can't," Beveridge said.

"I'm not confused tonight because it seemed like it didn't matter (what happened), it was just last touch off the boot (was paid). 

"I'm not sure that’s the way they wanted it to go, but I'm sure they'll tell us this week when they have their review.

"I'm not sure we got the raw end of the stick, I think we got a few against us and so did they."
