SCOTT Pendlebury has emphatically thrown his support behind Nathan Buckley, saying he wants the under-pressure coach at Collingwood beyond 2017.
The Magpies, with a 5-8 win-loss record, are on the brink of sliding out of finals contention and missing the top eight for a fourth-straight season.
Despite his club's wobbles, captain Pendlebury told SEN that Buckley had the Pies on the right track.
"I’m really keen for him to stay on," the skipper said.
"He’s got the whole group behind him. We’ve been doing a lot right but just haven’t been getting the right result.
"I’m a big fan of the way he coaches.
"If he was to leave at the end of the year, he’ll be leaving right as he has got this group ready to make a real crack at it."
Collingwood will try to keep its finals hopes alive against Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday in Pendlebury's 250th match.
