FREMANTLE has locked away another of its important youngsters with Darcy Tucker putting pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.

Tucker has recommitted until the end of 2019, following in the footsteps of emerging teammates Sean Darcy, Griffin Logue, Connor Blakely, Brennan Cox and Ed Langdon by re-signing with the Dockers this year. 

Tucker has played 30 games since he was drafted from North Ballarat with pick 27 in 2015 and the 20-year-old is relishing senior opportunities at the rebuilding club. 

"We have an exciting young list. I can’t wait to put another two years on the board with Fremantle and, hopefully, build our way to success," he said.

"To get opportunities in my first year and to continue to play this year has been great.

"I feel as though that I’m improving as time goes on.

"I’ve absolutely loved it, it’s every kid's dream to play AFL and I’ve been able to do that. 

"I’m looking to improve and establish myself over the next couple of years as an AFL player."

After slumping to 16th and making 11 list changes at the end of last year, the Dockers are expected to undertake another aggressive list turnover at season's end.

Coach Ross Lyon has already revealed veteran defender Zac Dawson will not be at the club next season, however he has endorsed small forward Hayden Ballantyne to continue in 2018. 

Veteran defender Michael Johnson, ruckman Jonathon Griffin, backman Garrick Ibbotson and midfielder Nick Suban are among the other senior Dockers out of contract. 

The fates of tall forward Matt Taberner and Tommy Sheridan also remain unclear. 

Taberner might have saved his Freo career in the past two weeks after forcing his way back into the line-up. 

In a forward line crying out for marking targets, the 24-year-old has impressed with his aerial work, despite dealing with limited supply in consecutive 104-point beltings from Sydney and Richmond. 

Sheridan, who turns 24 in October, has managed only eight senior games this year and hasn't earned a recall after hurting a hamstring in round 16. 

AFL.com.au has reported high-flying forward Hayden Crozier is likely to ink a new deal to remain a Docker beyond 2017, however homesick Sandringham product Harley Balic is set to request a trade.

Balic has twice returned to Melbourne this season on personal leave and last played for WAFL affiliate Peel on July 8.
