PORT Adelaide has confirmed key defender Jack Hombsch has had hip surgery and will miss the Power's finals campaign.
The 24-year-old played 13 games for the Power this season, but has been out of the side since the round 20 Showdown loss to Adelaide.
The Power's general manager of football Chris Davies said Hombsch had the operation to remove floating bone in his hip.
"We’ve been managing the issue throughout the latter part of this season, but it got to the point where surgery was the best option for Jack in the long term," Davies said.
"He's recovering well.
"It'll be six weeks or so before he can run again, but he should be back to full fitness in time for the start of pre-season."
The Power finished fifth at the end of the home and away season with a 14-8 win-loss record to return to the finals for the first time since 2014.
They will host the eighth-placed West Coast Eagles in an elimination final at Adelaide Oval next Saturday night.
