AUSTRALIA coach Chris Scott says he would like to see a three-game Virgin Australia International Rules series after Saturday night's thrilling second Test in Perth. 

"I would like to (see it)," Scott said after Australia’s 53-50 victory at Domain Stadium.

"That’s the short answer but there are complications. There are already some difficulties, it’s off-season for both teams, it’s a long way to go for the travelling team. 

"But I think that’s something we could work through. 

"It probably depends on how much people get behind it, if there’s an appetite for it. 

"I think you’d have 30,000 advocates walking away from Domain (Stadium) talking about what an exciting game it was.

"I suspect we’ve got some AFL people thinking, the way the ball pinged up and down the ground, no stoppages … I think the potential for the game is huge."

Scott lauded the impact of goalkeeper Brendon Goddard, who recovered from two goals in the first eight minutes to play a blinder.

Goddard saved two clear-cut one-on-ones and kick-started many attacks from the last line.

"They didn’t get the ball in the net because of the goalkeeper, it was what happened up the field so he’s a strong character and there was no doubt in our mind that he was the right man to stay in goal,” Scott said.

"He had a really solid impact later in the game and those saves were high pressure situations. 

"But that’s why we rate the best players.  You can’t be one of the best players without being able to stand up in big moments.”

Jim Stynes Medal winner Nat Fyfe said it had been an immense honour to represent Australia and the team was elated to win both games and give Domain Stadium a proper send-off. 

Fyfe took four contested marks out of just 15 taken in the match by both sides, a factor Scott said was crucial to the result. 

"He reads the ball in the air as well as anyone. That ball to be kicked 55m hard, it’s floating and it’s hard to mark but Fyfey’s got it worked out obviously," Scott said. 

Fyfe said he’d love to represent Australia again after such an enjoyable series. 

"It was fantastic to come away with a win in those circumstances, with it going right down to the wire," he said. 

"We’ve got a bunch of highly competitive players all huddled together and we weren’t going to let the series slip." 

He said the half-time break gave Australia a chance to regroup when 13 points down and behind in the series on aggregate. 

"We really needed cool heads, there was a bit of spice in the game and they were on top of us," Fyfe said. 

"There was a bit of wrestling going on which showed just how much both sides cared about the result. 

"But we just needed to compose ourselves and know that in the back end of the game, our fitness would be superior in some ways."
