MAX DUFFY was a Docker and a Falcon. And now he is a Wildcat.
The former Fremantle midfielder, who played two AFL games in 2014 and another the following season, will play for the University of Kentucky as a punter next year.
Duffy, now 24, walked away from his WAFL career with West Perth to pursue his American football dream through Prokick Australia, the punting academy run by former Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn defender Nathan Chapman.
He follows former St Kilda defender Arryn Siposs, who is also off to the US to play as the punter for Auburn University, one of the powerhouses of the college game.
Duffy and Siposs will both play in the powerful Southeastern Conference, but in different divisions.
The Kentucky Wildcats play at a high level on the gridiron as well, but the college is better known for its basketball team.
Chapman’s proteges have now won the last five Ray Guy awards, the annual prize for the best punter in college football, and more than 70 US colleges have Australian punters in their squads.
