PORT Adelaide midfielder Karl Amon is primed for a big season after confirming his place as the club's running machine.
Amon took the honours in the club's 3x1km time trial on Wednesday morning, backing up his victory from prior to the Christmas break.
The 22-year-old finished last season strongly, averaging almost 23 possessions in the Power's final four games, including having 24 disposals in the extra-time elimination final loss to West Coast.
Mature-age recruit Dom Barry is making the most of his second chance in the AFL after finishing runner-up to Amon in the time trial.
The 23-year-old winger was the 61st overall pick in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft after being handed a lifeline on the back of strong form in the SANFL with Glenelg.
Barry previously played five games for Melbourne in 2014 before giving the game away to return to the APY Lands and reconnect with his cultural identity.
Third in the time trial went to skipper Travis Boak, back into full training after a hand injury in December.
Former Demons co-captain Jack Trengove and key defender Tom Clurey rounded out the top five, with Trengove's performance suggesting that his long-term foot issues may be resolved.
