DESPITE Carlton’s up-and-down season, twins Sarah and Jess Hosking are relishing playing together again.
Jess, who missed the first season of the NAB AFL Women’s competition with knee and shoulder injuries, described the first time the pair ran out as Carlton teammates (in round one against Collingwood) as "incredible".
"We do try and come as a packaged deal, and we enjoy playing together," Sarah said.
Sarah and Jess, former netballers, were drafted with picks 19 and 78 respectively in the 2016 NAB AFLW Draft.
They previously played together with the Seaford Tigerettes in the VFL Women’s competition.
The Hoskings, 22, believe their individual playing styles are complementary.
"I would probably describe myself as an in-and-under player. More of an inside mid than an outside mid, whereas Sarah is the opposite,” said Jess, who will miss Saturday night’s crucial trip to Adelaide after being rested.
"I’m more about the tackling and the aggression and trying to get that run and carry," Sarah said.
After Sarah racked up a huge 16 tackles in the round-two win against Greater Wester Sydney, Jess joked her twin might have "stolen" a few of her own stats.
Creatively, the twins have used football fashion this season as a way for confused fans to tell them apart.
"We do try and differentiate ourselves out there on the field. I wear bright yellow boots and [Jess] has the white ones," Sarah said.
