MATT Suckling has dismissed talk of player discontent with Luke Beveridge, with the veteran adamant a young Western Bulldogs list is very happy under the premiership coach.

Suggestions have surfaced following the Bulldogs' poor start to the season that Beveridge's message isn't getting through to the players and the team is faltering as a consequence.

Despite thrashings at the hands of Greater Western Sydney and West Coast to begin 2018, and the club sitting on the bottom of the ladder, Suckling said morale among the players was good and they have no problem with the coach.

Suckling was lured to Whitten Oval after he and Beveridge formed a strong bond during their time at Hawthorn.

"I don't know where that (talk) has come from," Suckling said on Thursday morning.

"Bevo is a great coach and a really relationship-driven coach, has great relationships with everyone in the footy club, and we've got great relationships with him.

"We know he supports us really well and we support him."

Recently retired captain Bob Murphy commented this week that the Bulldogs weren't set up for sustained success following the 2016 premiership because they didn't have "a litany of superstars".

Suckling crossed to the Bulldogs in the hope of adding to the two premierships he won with the Hawks, and while he missed the Dogs' flag through injury, the 29-year-old is confident the club's young list still has the capacity to contend despite a poor start to 2018.

"I still think we're a young group, exciting group with lots of young players that are all re-signing," Suckling said.

"It was interesting coming in Monday and everyone's spirits were really high, having fun and really happy to be here.

"I think that will continue throughout the year, we've got a long year ahead of us and hopefully we can start with a win this week."
