ADELAIDE vice-captain Rory Sloane is all but guaranteed to face Melbourne in Saturday night's huge clash at Adelaide Oval, but important defender Tom Doedee remains in doubt with concussion.
Sloane had his foot stood on and took a knock to his shin during the Crows' five-point win against Brisbane at the Gabba last Saturday night.
There were fears Sloane may have re-injured the foot that forced him to miss 10 weeks with a Lisfranc ligament strain.
But the 28-year-old dual club champion – who earlier this month ignored interest from Victorian clubs by signing a five-year contract extension with the Crows – has returned to the track this week.
"(Sloane) got his foot stepped on and he also got a knock to the shin, so that caused him a little bit of discomfort, but there's nothing sinister behind either of those," Crows general manager of high performance Matt Hass told the club's website.
"He's trained already this week and he'll train with the main group on Wednesday, so everything is positive for Rory."
The news isn't as good for Doedee after he was on the end of a strong tackle from Lion Dan McStay and didn't finish the game.
Doedee has had a sensational debut season for the Crows.
The 21-year-old has played every game, averaging 18.1 disposals and 5.1 marks as an intercept defender and, with Collingwood's Jaidyn Stephenson, is a leading contender for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.
Doedee and small forward Lachlan Murphy were both concussed in the third quarter against the Lions.
"Both entered the concussion protocol. (Murphy) has moved through that pretty easily and we expect him to train on Wednesday," Hass said.
"(Doedee) is a little bit slower … we're hopeful on both and it will be a doctor's decision later in the week."
Key defender Kyle Hartigan will be sidelined for at least another two weeks as he recovers from knee soreness, while veterans Richard Douglas (ankle) and David Mackay (ribs) will miss at least another week.
Both could be available for the round 20 Showdown with Port Adelaide.
