GEELONG has locked away another plank in its defence by signing Jake Kolodjashnij for a further two seasons.

Kolodjashnij, who played every game in 2018 to finish eighth in the best and fairest, will remain a Cat until at least the end of 2021. 

"Jake continues to learn and develop, as he has done since he first arrived at the club," Cats head of football Simon Lloyd said.

"He is an integral part of where we are going as a football club. He is a very consistent player and fits our team ethos.

"We are pleased that the club and Jake could reach this agreement so easily and quickly and look forward to him continuing with the club into the future."

Kolodjashnij's signature comes after Mark Blicavs (2023), Tom Stewart (2021), Jack Henry (2020) and Zach Guthrie (2020) all extended their deals last year.

Harry Taylor, Lachie Henderson, Jed Bews and Mark O'Connor all fall out of contract at the end of this season.
