ADELAIDE forward Riley Knight has signed a one-year contract extension with the Crows for 2020.

The 24-year-old spoke with Sydney coach John Longmire during the NAB AFL Trade Period about the possibility of continuing his 54-game career at the Swans.

However, with small forward Tom Papley's proposed move to Carlton failing to eventuate and the Swans securing Lewis Taylor from Brisbane, Knight has committed to remain at the Crows, where he played 15 games in 2019.

"Riley was always keen to stay at Adelaide and we're really pleased he'll be at the club for at least another year," Crows list manager Justin Reid said.

"He is a popular member of our playing group and has shown he's capable of playing good senior footy with his elite running capacity and ability to play a number of roles.

"Our new coach Matthew Nicks has spoken about ensuring a team-first mentality is a clear focus, and Riley has demonstrated over the past six seasons he fits the mould."

South Australian product Knight joined the Crows as the 46th overall pick in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.
