CARLTON has signed former St Kilda wingman Jack Newnes as a delisted free agent.
As revealed by AFL.com.au in October, the Blues lured Newnes to Ikon Park after he rejected the offer of a two-year contract to remain with the Saints beyond the Telstra AFL Trade Period.
Newnes, who spent four years in St Kilda's leadership group, played 155 games for the club but opted to continue his career elsewhere after receiving little interest as a restricted free agent during the exchange window.

He becomes the club's third off-season addition, having also secured ruckman Marc Pittonet from Hawthorn and goalkicking great Eddie Betts from Adelaide in the midst of a busy Trade Period.
Newnes, 26, is the second player to move clubs following the opening of the delisted free agency period on November 1 after ex-Geelong forward Wylie Buzza signed a one-year deal to join Port Adelaide.

"I am really excited, it has been a bit of a whirlwind the last couple of months, but I’m glad the decision has been made," Newnes told carltonfc.com.au.
"I think there are a lot of young players here and I’ve got a lot of experience so hopefully I’ll be sharing a bit of knowledge about what it takes.
"I’ve got a lot of improvement in my game personally. I haven’t yet reached the highest level I can, so I am really excited to push myself and push the group as well."
