NORTH Melbourne bull Cameron Zurhaar has been rewarded for a breakout 2019, signing a two-year contract extension.

Zurhaar got to the Kangaroos via the 2016 Rookie Draft, forced his way on to the senior list and made a name for himself last season, playing 19 games.

The 21-year-old kicked 26 goals, including bags of five against St Kilda and Carlton, and became an integral part of North's forward line.

"I am stoked ... a happy man," Zurhaar told the club's website.

"It was just good to get the pressure off and get it [the contract] done.

"To get another contract gives you time, makes you more comfortable."

Zurhaar said new coach Rhyce Shaw's attacking style of football suited his game, particularly his rugged tackling.

"One of my big targets is in the first five minutes of the game to get a big hit or even get hit myself - it just puts me in the game and that was massive for me this year," he said.

"If I got hit, or got taken out, the boys were up and about and I was up and about. It just ramped up my game and you felt better going into the game."
