FROM player to coach to agent?

It's been a big nine months for Brett Deledio, who finished his career last year with the Giants, then became a development coach at Hawthorn and now moved into a new area of the game.

The 33-year-old, who has remained stood down at the Hawks, has joined Mac's Sports agency and will be a player manager.

The company, headed by Anthony McConville, managed Deledio throughout his 275-game career.

Deledio had signed to play at Box Hill Hawks this year in the VFL as well as steer Hawthorn's youngsters as a development coach after retiring from the Giants at the end of last year.

However the COVID-19 fallout in the football industry has seen football department salary caps shrink, and Deledio is among the Hawks' contingent who have not returned to the club.

That has seen a change of pace for the former Richmond No.1 draft pick, who will enter the competitive player management industry.

Deledio will complete his AFL Players' Association accreditation process later this year and focus on mentoring the group's younger players.
