FOR THE first time since giving birth to baby daughter Billie, inaugural Lion Sharni Webb will run out for Brisbane's AFLW team on Tuesday night.

Webb, who was pregnant during the Lions' 2021 premiership season and watched from the sidelines, has been named to play Carlton at Metricon Stadium on Tuesday night.

It will have been 674 days since she ran out against the same opponent during the 2020 Finals Series.

The 30-year-old said it had been "challenging" to get back, seeking advice from Melbourne superstar Daisy Pearce and North Melbourne's All-Australian Jess Duffin, who have both successfully returned from giving birth.

"We lean on each other and talk about how tough it is being a mum, and also how awesome it is," Webb said.

"The biggest thing I learnt was around that prehab stuff and recovery post-birth.

"You go into birth thinking it's going to be really scary, but when you have the right people around you it's exciting and you can bounce back.

"When I was away from it being pregnant, I was probably this close to saying I was going to retire and I think when you're taken away from something that's a big part of your identity I realised, "hang on, I'm not ready to quit just yet".

Webb returns to the premiers ahead of a clash they'd love to win, following a first round loss to Adelaide and a second round fixture postponed following a COVID-19 outbreak that swept through the playing group.

Coach Craig Starcevich delivered the news Webb was back in the top team.

"I kind of felt like a debutant, even though I've played the first four years and didn't miss a game. It's super exciting to be putting it (jumper) back on."
