SHANNON Campbell wants a shot at redemption when Brisbane plays Melbourne in Saturday's NAB AFL Women's preliminary final at the MCG.

When the Demons won the last match-up by three points in round seven, it was Campbell's direct opponent, Tayla Harris, who had the biggest say on the outcome.

Harris was magnificent at Metricon Stadium on that still Monday night, kicking 2.2 from 13 disposals and hauling in a competition-record seven contested marks.

Campbell, who is giving away 6cm of height to the athletic Harris, is again the likely match-up for a Brisbane backline that has missed lynchpin Kate Lutkins (ACL) since the opening round.

"She's obviously a really good player," Campbell said of Harris when speaking to womens.afl.

"I've known Tayla since she was 12 and coming through the Queensland sporting system.

"She had a phenomenal game that day and took a ridiculous amount of contested marks.

"I want to redeem myself a bit from that game. It wasn't my best performance because she was able to get over the top of me."

Harris and Campbell were teammates at Brisbane in the inaugural season of AFLW before the superstar forward headed south to Carlton and eventually Melbourne.

Brisbane's defence was the bedrock of its premiership last year, but has undergone a makeover with the injury to Lutkins and retirement of former skipper Emma Zielke (who is now an assistant coach).

Phoebe Monahan was recruited during the off-season and has fitted in seamlessly, while draftee Lulu Pullar has also made a home for herself alongside Campbell, captain Bre Koenen, Nat Grider and Indy Tahau.

Aside from Campbell, coach Craig Starcevich could turn to Grider, who the Lions like to free up as an interceptor, or Tahau as options to quell Harris, although the latter likely still lacks the experience to mark a spearhead.

"I think we've learned there's probably a way to body her out of the way if we can, or use that spare defender if we have to," Campbell said.

"She's obviously not the only one that's dangerous, there's many on the field that can turn a game pretty quickly.

"In the end it's a team performance and we need to work together to overcome her because she's a really good player.

"Hopefully we can lock her down a bit more."
