THIRD-YEAR Dog Elisabeth Georgostathis and North Melbourne’s Isabella Eddey have both been recognised for their terrific performances with round seven NAB AFLW Rising Star nominations.
Western Bulldogs midfielder Georgostathis played a starring role along-side captain Ellie Blackburn and Kirsty Lamb in their 12-point win over Geelong.
The 20-year-old was recruited from the Western Jets with pick No.9 in the NAB 2019 AFLW Draft has not missed a match since making her debut in the opening round of the 2020 season.
She enjoyed a breakout game in their win over the Cats, collecting a career-high 23 disposals, four inside 50s, six tackles and a goal. Her fierce onball performance also impressed the coaches as she received eight votes in the AFL Coaches’ Association award.
The versatile Eddey has also been recognised for her important role in North Melbourne’s 23-point win over Collingwood by becoming the second Kangaroo to be nominated this season after Mia King back in round one.
Eddey, who impressed recruiters with her efficient ball use under pressure while playing for the Sandringham Dragons, was rewarded by being selected with North Melbourne’s first selection at the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft.
The 20-year-old has played 17 consecutive games since her debut in round one last season and has been pivotal in a strong Kangaroos outfit which currently only sits percentage off top spot on the AFLW ladder.
The silky-skilled midfielder finished the game with 16 disposals, four marks and 232 metres gained.
Players are eligible for the NAB AFLW Rising Star if they are 21 years and under as of January 1, 2022, and have not been previously nominated.
Two players will be nominated per home and away round of the NAB AFLW season.
