PREMIERSHIP ruck Rhiannon Metcalfe has retired from AFLW footy after six years with Adelaide.
Part of the very first AFLW premiership team back in 2017, Metcalfe missed the Crows' 2019 and 2022 flags due to injury and work commitments respectively.
"Now, I have further dreams and aspirations that my heart and mind are ready for. It’s time for that new chapter. It’s over to the next generation of footballers to inspire, succeed and love the game as I do," Metcalfe said.
"I am eternally grateful for my time with the Adelaide Football Club."
The club's head of women's football Phil Harper thanked Metcalfe for her contribution to the Crows.
"She helped to establish the culture of our women’s program from day one and also had a big presence on the field – everyone walked taller with Rhi by their side," Harper said.
"Rhi will always be a Crow and we know she will continue to cheer her friends and former teammates on, just as she did on Grand Final day this year."
Dayna Cox and Deni Varnhagen have both been listed as inactive for season seven, while McKenzie Dowrick has been delisted.
Meanwhile, Richmond small forward Tayla Stahl has retired on the eve of pre-season.
The 27-year-old made the announcement on her Instagram account.
"Due to circumstances out of my control I have retired from AFLW," Stahl said.
"My health is more important than a game of football.
"I'd like to thank the Richmond Football Club for giving me the opportunity to live out a dream."
Stahl kicked 13 goals from her 21 games in the yellow and black, the inaugural Tiger joining the club as an open-age signing in 2020.
