Since launching the Footy Focus competition in 2019, we have unearthed some amazing talent across Australia and even abroad. Here we look back at a fan favourite and Top 10 image by Brooke Sleep from the Gold Coast. Brooke has recently re-created the photo of Broadbeach Cats player Jessica Harvey breast feeding her gorgeous daughter Lola. She has grown up!

“Being selected in the Top 10 of #FootyFocus21 is without a doubt, the highlight of my photography career so far.

When I entered my photos in the comp, I thought to myself “I don’t actually want to win, but I hope something comes of this photo” …and this happened; this is winning to me.

Taking action shots of footy is one thing, but being able to capture the passion, love and friendships in these moments between the action is where my heart is when taking photos. I teared up multiple times thinking about what this means to me. It’s thinking of how proud my Pop, the footy fanatic, would be. It’s thinking of how grateful I am to be a part of such an amazing team who have been a support system for me over the last couple of years during some really difficult times. It’s about the recognition it gives this incredible Mum and all the mums playing footy, our whole playing group culture, our coach who has a heart of gold and our club.

I encourage anyone to pick up a camera no matter your skill level or the quality of the equipment and get snapping photos around sport. It’s an amazing thing to be a part of a footy community.

These are moments to cherish and memories to look back on, so go get em!”
