ISABEL Huntington is finally a Giant, West Coast star midfielder Mikayla Bowen will call Kardinia Park home while inactive Cat Millie Brown has moved to the Western Bulldogs.
As reported by womens.afl in April, Huntington requested a trade to the Giants some time ago.
The Bulldogs have received pick No.29 (a first-rounder) and No.37 (start of the second) in return.
It was a difficult trade to come to terms, given Huntington's immense talent (former No.1 pick, All-Australian, NAB AFLW Rising Star and ability to play at both ends of the field) coupled with her three knee reconstructions.
The new Giant will sit out Season Seven, and the club is keen for her to work with fellow ACL rehabber and young tall Isadora McLeay.
Bowen – an inaugural Eagle who joined the club as an academy pre-selection at 18 – was keen to move to the eastern states to further her footy.
The tenacious inside midfielder has joined Geelong in return for pick No.24, which will become the third overall selection in the West Australian pool of the state-based NAB AFLW Draft.
Former father-daughter selection Brown sat out the 2022 season due to personal reasons.
An impressive young defender in her debut year of 2020, she battled injuries in 2021, and the Dogs also have the option of playing her in attack, given the loss of Huntington and Bonnie Toogood (Essendon).
Geelong has received picks 24 and 56, with pick 21 also heading to the Kennel as part of the deal.
Richmond, Melbourne and Hawthorn have also completed a pick swap.
The Tigers have received picks 59 and 62, the Demons now have pick 45 and 80, while Hawthorn has pick 52.
Gold Coast quartet Kate Surman, Jacqui Yorston, Britt Perry and Cheyenne Hammond have been traded to Port Adelaide.
The Suns have received pick No.34 (a first-round selection) and No.81 in return.
As previously reported by womens.afl, Surman had attempted to walk to Port Adelaide during the expansion period, but the Suns had already lost their maximum three players so the deal had to be trade.
Perry and Hammond are South Australians and were keen to return home after several years playing interstate.
Small forward Perry managed just one game for the Suns this year, and has 18 under her belt across a four-year period inclusive of a season at GWS.
Hammond, a defender and foundation Sun, has 22 games under her belt, including seven this year.
Midfielder/forward Surman recorded 26 lively games for Gold Coast, while Yorston will be at her third club, having played 12 matches for both Brisbane and the Suns, interspersed by a torn ACL.
Yorston had been exploring her options outside of the Suns, including with Sydney, with partner Tanah Boyd an NRL player with Gold Coast.
A knock-on effect of the deal will also see Adelaide move up one spot in the South Australian pool of the state-based NAB AFLW Draft, now entering at pick No.5 instead of No.6.
Gold Coast will now have two selections before Brisbane's first in the Queensland pool.
