RED-HOT favourite Adelaide will use the pain of last year's heartbreak to drive them towards becoming two-time NAB AFL Women’s premier.

The Crows are riding a seven-game winning streak – the last two of those by 10 goals - into the Grand Final against Carlton at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

It was a different story last season when the Crows needed to beat lowly Collingwood in Melbourne in the final game of the home and away campaign to punch their ticket to the decider.

Everything was going to script at half-time as the Crows led by 11 points before the Mapgies booted 5.4 to 0.2 after the main break to put a dampener on celebrations.

Winger Deni Varnhagen said last year's result would be used as motivation this week.

"We would've liked to have got it done last season, so we can draw on that hurt and make sure we get it done this season," Varnhagen told womens.afl.

"We were ahead at half-time, then we just dropped the bundle and lost it in the last two quarters.

"That was a really disappointing flight home," she said.

"It's a pretty long off-season to be stewing, so that's really helped us build this season to make sure that doesn't happen again."

Varnhagen is one of 12 players from the Crows inaugural premiership side in 2017 who are expected to line-up on Sunday.

Under new coach Matthew Clarke, the Crows returned to pre-season training in great shape, with 19 players recording personal best times in the ‘Yo-Yo’ endurance test in January.

"You get a bigger engine from being in an elite sporting space for a few years," Varnhagen said.

"We have an amazing strength and conditioning coaching group and everyone was really eager to be the best footballer they can be for the team."

Varnhagen, 26, has benefitted from the Crows changing how they transition the ball out of defence.

"Our gameplan for the first couple of years was just surge it forward, which didn't really involve wings," she said.

"Having Chelsea Randall, Marijana Rajcic, Dayna Cox, Sarah Allan in the backline (is great) … you can trust them to get the job done and get it back out to the midfield.

"This year, there's a lot more game-style and a bit more plan of attack so. We're using our wingers a lot more, which brings me into the game a lot, which I'm obviously really happy about."
