BRISBANE has suffered a blow with key forward Sabrina Frederick telling the Lions she wants to play for a Victorian-based NAB AFLW club in 2020.
Frederick-Traub, twice an All Australian, told the club she wanted to be closer to her partner’s family. The 22-year-old has been linked to Richmond, which will join the AFLW next season.
Lions women’s CEO Breeanna Brock thanked Frederick for her contribution to the club as a foundation player.
"We’ve loved having ‘Sabs’ on the journey with us and she will be missed. As with anything in life you have to do what’s right for you and your family, and we certainly respect that," Brock said.
"While it is disappointing, this will open up opportunities for the young and developing girls on our list and those wanting to come to Brisbane."
The AFLW sign and trade period starts on April 8.
