PREMIERSHIP co-captain Chelsea Randall might have signed a one-year deal to remain at Adelaide, but she's set for a slightly different winter to most players.

The 27-year-old has planned a trip to Ireland, where she will play some Gaelic football.

"I'm going to be heading over in July for a couple of weeks," Randall told the club website.

"I decided in January that it'd be nice to have a mid-year break and holiday. The connection with my teammate Ailish (Considine) being from Ireland and her family (was another reason to go).

"I'm hoping to get a game or two (while) I'm over there, code-swap like Ailish has done and see what it's like to play some Gaelic footy."

The sport is foreign to most Australians, but it won't be a new experience for the three-time All Australian defender, who is keen to take a break from the footy bubble.

"I've actually played (International Rules, which uses a round ball like the one used in Gaelic football) before back in Western Australia. It's such a fast game and similar to Aussie Rules," Randall said.

"I had a bit of a reflection at the start of the year, [and realised] footy is what I've always done. Even though I've played a bit of rugby sevens, basketball and some other sports, I always ended up pouring my energy into footy."
