NORTH Melbourne jet Jasmine Garner has claimed the lead in the AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award after another best-on-ground performance at the weekend.

Garner starred with two goals, 18 disposals and 10 tackles as the Roos overwhelmed expansion side Sydney by 66 points, earning herself nine votes from the coaches.

It was enough for her to leapfrog Geelong youngster Georgie Prespakis, who sits second on the leaderboard with another game of her suspension to serve.

Six players received maximum votes in round six, but Jess Duffin wasn't one of them despite booting a match-winning three goals in Hawthorn's victory over West Coast on Friday night.
