KARA Antonio's playing future is up in the air, but she has committed to staying at Fremantle.

The 30-year-old former skipper may retire and take up an off-field role for the upcoming season, but is still weighing up her options.

Wife Ebony has already recommitted to the club after some interest from Victorian expansion sides.

Antonio has coached and worked in the community development arm for Swan Districts, and also has a teaching background.

"I'm not going anywhere. If I'm going to play, it'll be at the Dockers, I want to be a one-club player and I love the footy club and the group we've been able to build over the past six years," Antonio told ABC Grandstand on Sunday.

"For me, it's just about what's next and life after footy. Is it a coaching role, or is it in an admin role? I'm committed to the Dockers, whether that's in a playing or coaching capacity next season. 

"I've had a number of phone calls and conversations with my teammates and everyone else that's willing to throw their opinion up. It's been lovely to know I'm wanted in a playing capacity, so we'll just wait and see over the next few weeks. I'll have a number of conversations with key people and make the best decision for myself."

The Dockers have lost Steph Cain (Essendon) and Gemma Houghton (Port Adelaide) to expansion clubs, and are no guarantee to regain Ash Sharp (pregnancy) and Sabreena Duffy (foot) given the short turnaround between seasons.

Antonio said the recently signed CBA was a big step forward for the still-fledgling competition.

"It's massive, and you've mentioned it's not just for the AFLW in general, but for women in sport. The AFLW product is only six years young, so to go into its seventh year with an incredible deal like this is ground-breaking," Antonio said.

"The players are obviously extremely happy with how the Players' Association and the AFL were able to do. Going into our seventh year we feel like we're well supported in terms of financials, but also the off-field elements that have been able to be negotiated as well. 

"It's massive in terms of last week, really proud of all the work that's been done behind the scenes and the conversations, so just excited to get stuck in now, I think."
