ROUND two saw a number of serious, season-ending injuries to important players across a variety of clubs.

As devastating as these injuries are, clubs have to be pragmatic and move on quickly, finding the next best option to keep the season moving.

Who are some of the names who will come into the mix?

AFLW INJURY LIST How healthy is your team?

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY

The Giants had an absolute horror weekend, losing badly to Brisbane and suffering three major injuries.

Key defender Pepa Randall tore her ACL, midfielder Tait Mackrill suffered a fractured foot, while winger Chloe Dalton is set for two months on the sidelines with a torn hamstring.

It means the Giants will have to call on reinforcements and juggle some existing first-21 players into different roles.

Annalyse Lister played a negating wing role on Orla O'Dwyer against the Lions, and can swing into defence, while draftee Tess Cattle is also an option to slot into the backline on debut.

The Giants are luckily blessed with outside run, having targeted the draft hard in the area, with Meghan Gaffney or Zara Hamilton able to play on the wing, while the versatile Nicola Barr (shoulder) is also closing in on a return.

Mackrill had been primarily playing as an inside midfielder, allowing Alicia Eva to spend more time on the outside. The skipper could slot back into her customary role, or a debut may be forthcoming for Zarlie Goldsworthy, who has been working to overcome a shoulder knock.

Haneen Zreika has been playing forward of late, but has spent significant time in as an inside midfielder in the past. The return of Barr may allow for Zreika to swing into the midfield.

ST KILDA

The Saints have lost Jayde Van Dyk for the season with a torn ACL and will be looking for a defender to cover for the 26-year-old.

The versatile Ash Richards played in round one in a role further afield, but spent the vast majority of her debut season in defence.

She was named as an emergency in round two, making way for Nat Exon and could easily slot into the backline.

Another option is 24-year-old Lucy Burke, who played six games in defence in her debut season earlier this year.

GOLD COAST

Jamie Stanton ruptured her ACL against West Coast, her knee giving way when bumped.

In years gone by, the Suns would have had to find a midfield replacement if Stanton was injured, but the Suns stalwart has been playing up forward of late.

Tori Groves-Little is yet to see any game time in season seven, and would probably be first off the blocks to slot into attack.

Shannon Danckert missed the win over the Eagles due to health and safety protocols, while Lucy Single can also provide some run, but appears to have fallen out of favour this year.

HAWTHORN

It's a not-so-happy team at Hawthorn at the moment, following Tamara Luke's torn ACL and Lou Stephenson's fractured ankle.

A timeline for Stephenson will be set after her surgery, but it's safe to say she will be spending a fair chunk of time on the sidelines.

Unfortunately, the Hawks are fairly skinny when it comes to tall replacements and will most likely need to pull Tegan Cunningham from defence to help support Lucy Wales in the ruck in place of Luke.

Sarah Perkins has demonstrated she's a canny ruck in forward 50 stoppages, and may need to assume greater responsibility at that end of the field.

Draftee Laura Elliott is one who could be looked to in filling a defensive role in Cunningham's absence while rucking.

Fellow teenager Bridie Hipwell was named as an emergency in round two and is one who should come into the frame in replacing Stephenson as a taller midfielder.
