WEST Coast's Charlie Thomas and Hawthorn's Lucy Wales have been recognised for their impressive round seven performances by receiving NAB AFLW Rising Star nominations.

The 19-year-old Thomas starred for West Coast in defence, gathering 23 possessions, taking seven marks, and recording seven rebound 50s.

Despite only playing one game in her draft year due to a fractured arm that prematurely ended her season, that was enough to convince the Eagles to pounce on the local Subiaco prospect, selecting her at pick No.3 in the 2021 NABW AFL Draft.

The versatile youngster featured in every game for the Eagles' last campaign and showed off her potential by playing in a variety of roles before settling in defence.

The 175cm defender demonstrated her clean hands through traffic, composure, and high-quality foot skills.

She becomes the third Eagle in as many weeks to be nominated, following on from ruck Sarah Lakay in round five and Ella Roberts last round.
