PORT Adelaide young gun Hannah Ewings has rocketed into womens.afl's Team of the Week for round four.

The draftee produced an incredible all-round performance – 19 disposals, nine clearances and three goals – against Sydney to take her place in the best 21 for the week.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult.

DEFENDERS

Sophie McDonald (West Coast), Mua Laloifi (Carlton), Eilish Sheerin (Richmond), Chelsea Biddell (Adelaide), Meg McDonald (Geelong)

Sheerin's extraordinary debut season continued with 20 disposals and eight intercepts against Essendon, while Biddell (18 and 12) continues to get better by the week.

Meg McDonald (22 and 11) was her traditional rock in defence, Sophie McDonald (unrelated) shut down Cora Staunton and Laloifi (12 and eight) kickstarted the Blues' comeback with run from defence.

MIDFIELDERS

Tahlia Hickie (Brisbane, ruck), Hannah Ewings (Port Adelaide), Kirsty Lamb (Western Bulldogs), Abbie McKay (Carlton), Charlie Rowbottom (Gold Coast), Emma Swanson (West Coast)

Hickie (19 hitouts, 15 disposals, 209m gained) had a fierce battle with Lauren Pearce, scoring coaches' votes in the process.

Ewings (19 disposals, nine clearances, three goals) produced an extraordinary performance for an 18-year-old, McKay (29 and 10) had a career-best game while Lamb (25 and seven) celebrated her 50th game in style.

Rowbottom bashed and crashed her way to 30 disposals, nine tackles and six clearances, while West Coast skipper Swanson (23, nine clearances, nine tackles) led from the front in the team's win.

FORWARDS

Courtney Jones (Gold Coast), Aine Tighe (Fremantle), Vikki Wall (North Melbourne), Erin Phillips (Port Adelaide), Kalinda Howarth (Gold Coast)

Jones may have kicked 1.3, but she recorded 12 score involvements, the equal-second highest in the AFLW. Tighe fluffed her final shot but was a handful throughout with 10 disposals and two goals, while Wall (10 and two goals) is well and truly finding her feet in the AFLW.

Phillips (16, eight score involvements) played her best game in Power colours and Howarth (22 and two goals) was incredibly dynamic across the field.

INTERCHANGE

Sophie Conway (Brisbane), Jodie Hicks (Greater Western Sydney), Georgie Prespakis (Geelong), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide), Monique Conti (Richmond)

Conway (17 and a goal) ran the game from the wing, Prespakis (32, nine tackles and six clearances) wasn't overawed by her decorated North Melbourne opponents and Hatchard (26 and 10 marks) was at her hard-running best.

Conti (15, nine tackles and a goal) got the Tigers over the line and Hicks (21 and five intercepts) played her best game in Giants colours.
