RULES around the eligibility of Port Adelaide's underage signing have been clarified, with an AFLW Academy ruck now well in the frame for selection during the Priority Signing Period.
The Power are able to sign an underage player as part of their assistance package, who will be able to play in the upcoming season in August.
The AFL has since confirmed that the underage player must have turned 18 on or before April 30, as well as having finished school.
That rules out rising star Lauren Young, who turns 18 in September, but brings Under-18 All-Australian ruck Matilda Scholz into the picture.
The daughter of former Australian netballer Peta, the 187cm Scholz plays for Glenelg, finishing fifth in its best and fairest last year at 17.
Port Adelaide has made just one list change thus far, delisting ruck Liz McGrath.
ANALYSIS Why teams aren't panicking about PSP … and who might move
Only two players from South Australia's 2022 under-18 side fall into the age eligibility for the underage PSP signing, the other being Lily Whitcombe.
The PSP period runs from March 1-8, with Port Adelaide permitted to sign three players from other clubs during it, and have been granted an extra two list spots for the upcoming season.
