VIC METRO midfielder Georgia Patrikios has been crowned player of the NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships after a stunning week's play on the Gold Coast.

The Calder Cannons product showed a clean pair of heels at every turn, her agility and creativity vital in Metro's undefeated run.

Patrikios, 18, brought teammates into play with her use of the ball and rarely made a mistake by foot.

After the carnival, players will return to their club or state league side, with the NAB AFLW Combine to be held in early October and the NAB AFLW Draft to follow a few weeks later.

STATE/TEAM MVPs

Central Allies – Montana McKinnon (South Australia)

Favourite to be named All Australian ruck when the team is released next week, McKinnon has long been slated as one to watch. She has a big leap and very strong hands above her head and knows where to place herself for an intercept mark.

Eastern Allies – Mia King (Tasmania)

A pure ball-winning midfielder, King plays by the "see ball, get ball" mentality. Eligible to be drafted by North Melbourne through the Tasmania zone, King is a strong mark and a fierce tackler.

Queensland – Ellie Hampson (pre-listed by Gold Coast)

Not overly tall but powerful with a booming kick, Hampson was a constant thorn in the side of opposition. Playing in the midfield and across half-back, Hampson's ability to break away from contests and clear traffic with a well-directed pass was one of Queensland's biggest strengths. Is not afraid to lay a big tackle either.

Vic Metro – Georgia Patrikios

See above. The player of the championships, Patrikios rarely looked flustered while in possession and has a wicked sidestep that leaves opponents grasping at air.

Vic Country – Lucy McEvoy

Would have finished fairly high in the voting for overall player of the championships. The strong Country product played across all three lines but spent most of her time in the midfield. A natural kick, McEvoy has an innate ability to lay a tackle, block or fire out a handball to a player in space.

Western Australia – Mikayla Bowen (pre-listed by West Coast)

One of the most tenacious players at the championships, the diminutive Bowen was most often found at the bottom of packs, before diving in again as soon as the ball was thrown up. A fierce tackler with clean skills, Bowen is also equally adept on the outside of packs.
