ST KILDA has confirmed defender Jayde Van Dyk will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing her ACL in Sunday's win over Hawthorn.
Van Dyk, who has played 30 career games across both St Kilda and Carlton, landed awkwardly after her kick was smothered in the second quarter and had to be helped from the field.
"We’re gutted to lose Jayde for the year, but she will have the entire club’s support throughout this time," St Kilda head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.
"Although we will miss Jayde’s impact in defence, she will be just as valuable to our group from the sidelines as our backline continues to grow and develop. Jayde will tackle her rehab with the same intensity she brings on-field, and we look forward to when she’ll be able to line up in club colours again."
The defender joins St Kilda youngster Renee Saulitis on the sidelines for the remainder of the year, who partially tore her ACL during a preseason practice match.
Saulitis underwent successful ACL surgery and has started her rehabilitation, and young star Tyanna Smith is roughly a month away from a potential return from her own ACL injury.
