IN ROUND four another expansion side claimed its first win in emphatic fashion, while young players staked their claim right across the country.

Each week Gemma Bastiani will look at a key talking point in each game in this handy wrap up, just in case you missed it.

Georgie Prespakis becomes the youngest player to register 30+ disposals

At just 19 years and 187 days old, young Cat Georgie Prespakis racked up 32 disposals on Friday night as she tried to carry her side over the line. In doing so she surpassed talented young trio Ebony Marinoff, Alyce Parker, and Georgia Patrikios as the youngest player to register 30 or more disposals in an AFLW match. This season Prespakis is averaging 21.5 disposals, 7.8 tackles, 5.3 clearances and 263.8 metres gained, establishing herself as one of the most dangerous midfielders across the competition, in just her second season.

Take note of Sophie McDonald

The young key defender for the Eagles has quietly been playing some very good footy for the last two seasons, relentless in the one-on-one and deceptively tall. Against the Giants on Saturday, McDonald had the direct matchup on star forward Cora Staunton and completely smothered her. On the stat sheet McDonald might have only had three intercepts and six tackles, but she kept Staunton goalless – a vital task when facing the Giants.

Charlie Rowbottom is mounting an All-Australian campaign

Following Georgie Prespakis' lead, Rowbottom became the third-youngest player to register 30 or more disposals in a game in the Suns' big win over St Kilda on Saturday. The teenager led her side out of the middle, running hard both in attack and in defence in what was one of the most complete games from a midfielder we've seen in AFLW. On top of her 30 disposals, Rowbottom laid a game-high nine tackles and led the field for clearances with six.

Hannah Ewings, record breaker

After earning a Rising Star nomination last week in Port Adelaide's draw against Carlton, Hannah Ewings ran out onto Alberton on Saturday with an intent rarely seen from such a fresh talent. In her side's huge 66-point win, Ewings became the first player in AFLW history to register nine clearances and kick three goals in a game. Not only that, but she also laid eight tackles and sent the ball inside 50 five times in an outstanding performance.

The Blues break even for the second week running

For the first time in AFLW history Carlton has finished with a draw two weeks running. Not only is this the first instance of back-to-back draws in AFLW (and just the fourth across the men's and women's competitions combined), but it is also the first time an AFLW side has registered two draws in a single season. The Blues will be ruing two missed opportunities as they look toward next week where they face their toughest matchup of the season, Melbourne at Ikon Park.

Hawthorn has several hard-working youngsters

While the Hawks' effort might not have reflected on the scoreboard just yet, they do have a batch of incredibly hard-working young players who showed what they're made of against the Bulldogs on Saturday. Jasmine Fleming starred in the middle with an equal-game high 25 disposals, while also winning six clearances. Relentless midfielder Tamara Smith finished the game with 13 tackles. Then there's Baskaran, Barbakos, Wales and Locke who have all been important in recent weeks. The future is bright for the Hawks, even if the rewards aren't there right now.

Adelaide has started to find its groove

After a slower start to the season where the Crows haven't quite been able to get games on their terms, they were back to their suffocating best against Collingwood on Sunday. Winning the inside 50 count 36-15, they were back to the brand of footy that won them a flag mere months ago. They only really let themselves down with their inaccuracy in front of goal, kicking two goals and nine behinds. This won't concern coach Matthew Clarke too much, however, as their ability to control the ball in their front half is the biggest indicator that they are on track.

Monique Conti can win the competition Best and Fairest award

Richmond midfielder Monique Conti is mounting a strong case for this season's best and fairest award after another stunning performance on Sunday afternoon in the inaugural AFLW Dreamtime match. Her 15 disposals, five tackles and nine clearances were vital in getting the Tigers moving out of the contest, but it was her superb snap on goal to put Richmond up by 15 points early in the third quarter that ultimately proved the difference in the game.

You can't keep the Lions down

Coming up against their biggest challenge of the season to date, Brisbane looked to be on the back foot early as Narrm kicked three quick goals to start the game. But it is the grit and determination to grind out games even when they're not quite going their way that puts the Lions in good stead for this season's premiership. The flexibility they have to adapt during games is remarkable, and the work rate and fitness to push until the very last moment makes them very hard to beat.
