STAR Western Bulldogs midfielder Kirsty Lamb is having a career-best season, but estimates she had just two weeks of full pre-season training as she battles an on-going foot issue.
Lamb has polled 27 AFLCA votes so far (with the game against Fremantle yet to be released as it was initially scheduled for round 10), and is averaging 18 disposals a game.
"It was a tough little period, it's probably my worst pre-season to date. I had a bit of a plantar fasciitis niggle at the end of last season, and I just haven't been able to shake it, I'm still carrying it at the moment," Lamb told Credit to the Girls.
"Heading into the pre-season, I was at my worst, I was struggling to even walk throughout the day, let alone run on it a couple of times a week. Spent a lot of time in rehab, trying to get it sorted and back into footy, you end up getting little soft-tissue injuries here and there.
"I think I had two or three injuries over pre-season, I might have trained two or three weeks with the whole group across the whole pre-season.
"I have good days and bad days, it's just something that we'll have to sit down and see what the plan of attack will be at the end of the season. Given we don't know when next season starts, you don't know how much time you'll have to deal with injuries.
"It's just icing, I sit with a ball under my foot while I work, rolling, and doing lots of massage and stuff, all the little things between games to get it right. I've had to change my footwear to try and take some pressure of my foot, I've had it for over 12 months now, so we've found a few things that work."
