TUESDAY'S Supplementary AFLW Draft will be a little bit different. Only open to over agers – those born in 2004 or earlier – we will see fewer clubs use their allocated picks, and fewer players taken.

But amongst it all, there will certainly be some gems uncovered, or rediscovered. Several former AFLW players have put their hand up for another crack at the elite level, and with the inclusion of a national draft pool, 60 per cent of nominees have made themselves available nation-wide.

So, who are the five former AFLW players we are most hoping to see return to the competition?

Christina Bernardi

After 39 games and 30 goals across three clubs - Collingwood, GWS and Richmond - Bernardi bobbed up for one more appearance last season at Carlton. Bernardi spent the preseason with the Blues as a train-on player and was called up when then-coach Daniel Harford was inundated with injuries.

Since then, she seems to have found a home at Princes Park, named the Blues' VFLW captain this year and was key to the side's round one win.

Sophie Abbatangelo

Another experienced forward who has nominated for the draft, former Kangaroo Sophie Abbatangelo would be a handy addition to an emerging forward line. With 42 games and 29 goals to her name, she kicked goals in six of 10 games last season.

At times knocked for her ability to apply defensive pressure, Abbatangelo proved a willingness to get her hands dirty last season, averaging 1.1 tackles inside 50 and 3.3 score involvements.

Caitlin Sargent

Part of Essendon's inaugural AFLW list, Caitlin Sargent was ultimately delisted without making her debut. But some impressive form up forward in the VFLW last weekend signalled a hint that she might be a shot back at AFLW level.

A marking target who stands at 174cm tall, Sargent simply couldn't break through in the powerful Bombers attacking line but could settle well into a shallower forward set up.

Poppy Schaap

A nifty small forward, Poppy Schaap spent the past two seasons with Carlton after being added as an injury replacement player early in the year. Schaap wasn't given much opportunity at the Blues, playing just three of a possible 20 games, but kicked three goals in the process – all in the final two rounds of season seven.

Currently playing with Geelong's VFLW side, she could add some ground-level x-factor for a club looking for a ground level forward.

Jasmin Stewart

Former Docker Jasmin Stewart stepped away from footy at the conclusion of season six and after one season out of the game has put her hand up to be picked back up. Stewart was drafted with pick No.4 in 2018 and played 22 games as an outside midfielder at Fremantle.

She has also shown sparks up forward, kicking six goals across her career, and could prove to be a versatile inclusion for a few sides across the country.
