COACHES and players might have disagreements, but Adelaide co-captain Chelsea Randall being the best defender in the League is one thing they can agree on.

Randall polled five of a possible 14 votes as each AFLW coach was surveyed anonymously before the start of the 2020 NAB AFL Women's season.

A comprehensive result for the 28-year-old, but the voting was spread a little more evenly than January's player survey on womens.afl.

The intercepting defender received eight out of a possible 14 votes from the players surveyed.

The three-time All Australian tore her ACL at the start of the pre-season and will miss the whole year as the Crows hope to win a second consecutive premiership.

Brisbane's Kate Lutkins and Adelaide's Sarah Allan were the only other players to receive multiple nominations from the coaches, but Geelong's Meg McDonald and Collingwood's Chloe Molloy received high praise.

"Chelsea Randall (was the best defender) last year for sure, I wish her well, hopefully she recovers as soon as she can. I'm going to have to go with Meg McDonald after that," one coach said.

"I struggled with this, because I actually think Chloe Molloy is the best defender, but could also be the best forward – she's a freak," another coach said.

"She's (Molloy) so quick in a 10m space, so she reads the play really well, but is so quick to either mark it or spoil the ball and she's an elite tackler. I think she's the best player in the League."
