The AFL, in partnership with NAB, is pleased to announce the destinations for the inaugural 2022 NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Tour Season Seven which officially launched in Adelaide today.
For the first time, women's football's most prestigious piece of silverware will travel to South Australia, Queensland and Victoria and visit local communities, football clubs, schools and NAB AFL Auskick centres.
Commencing its journey in Adelaide on Friday November 11, the Cup will visit North Adelaide's Fitzroy Football Club, Central Districts NAB AFL Auskick Clinic and Trinity College.
The Cup will then travel north to Queensland where it will stop at the Calamvale Leopards JAFL, St Peters Lutheran College and Morningside Football Club, before travelling to Cairns to visit the North Cairns Tigers Football Club.
Victoria will host the final leg of the Tour, where the Cup will pay a visit to the Whittlesea Junior Football Club, Sacred Heart Primary School in Croydon and Eastern Warriors Masters Football Club.
Officially launching the Cup Tour today at Adelaide Oval was General Manager Women's Football Nicole Livingstone, two-time Adelaide Crows AFLW Premiership player Anne Hatchard, North Adelaide product and Adelaide Crows AFLW player Amber Ward and community footballers from Broadview Football Club and North Adelaide Football Club.
AFL General Manager Womens Football Nicole Livingstone said the Tour was a great opportunity for fans to get swept up in finals fever.
"The AFL is delighted to be launching the NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Tour which is set to reach thousands of fans across the country as it makes its way to communities in South Australia, Queensland and Victoria," Ms. Livingstone said.
"Season Seven of the NAB AFLW competition has been one to remember, and I'm excited to provide more Australians with the chance to rub shoulders with the AFLW Premiership Cup and get swept up in finals fever.
"I'd like to thank our Premier Partner NAB for their support of the NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Tour. NAB has been supporting Australian Football for 20 years and a proud partner of the NAB AFLW competition since its inception and this initiative is another example of its commitment to supporting the game at all levels- from NAB AFL Auskick to the elite."
The NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Tour aims to celebrate female football excellence from the grassroots to the elite, recognise volunteers who have dedicated their time to developing women's and girls' football and highlight a number of football communities that have experienced growth in the number of women and girls participating in Australian football.
NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Ambassador Abbey Holmes said it was exciting to take the AFLW Premiership Cup to local communities.
"It's fantastic to see the AFLW Premiership Cup hit the road this season and visit fans across the country for the first time as part of the NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Tour," Holmes said.
"As this year's NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Ambassador, I know how special it is to see this season's silverware up close, so I'd encourage everyone to come along to see it if you have the opportunity."
NAB Group Executive for Personal Banking Rachel Slade said NAB was thrilled to be partnering with the AFL to celebrate female excellence throughout the Tour.
"It's been another fantastic season and the NAB AFLW Premiership Cup Tour is a great way of celebrating the players and bringing even more visibility to this fantastic competition," Ms Slade said.
"I hope it continues to inspire the next generation of athletes to get involved in the sport."
