THE HEARTBREAK of last season's preliminary final exit to Melbourne is motivating Brisbane ahead of Friday night's Grand Final qualifier against Adelaide, says dynamic winger Orla O'Dwyer.
Brisbane was bundled out in the penultimate game of season six, losing to the Demons by four points, and O'Dwyer says the result still burns.
"That's definitely great motivation for us going in," O'Dwyer said on Tuesday morning.
"Losing that prelim against Melbourne at the MCG earlier this year was disappointing, and I think a lot of girls are still holding on to that.
"Most of us girls were there for the prelim the previous year where we beat Collingwood at the Gabba, and are able to identify those two different feelings you had of pure happiness and disappointment.

"I think that's great motivation going in.
"All the girls are zoned in on what they need to do."
At the end of an All-Australian season herself, O'Dwyer had a poor outing against the Demons, gathering just five disposals, and said her focus this week was on playing a team game.
The Irish star's parents are due to land in Australia on Thursday to watch their 24-year-old play.
They watched last season's preliminary final, and like O'Dwyer, will be hoping for a different outcome this time around, with their return to Ireland scheduled for after the Grand Final.
"Our focus the last couple of weeks has been on team and I think that's what's got us over the line in those close games against Richmond and at the end of the season," O'Dwyer said.
"That's when we play our best, when we put the person beside us in a better position.

"I think that team approach is really drilled into us and I think that's what will get us over the line at the end of the day.
"It's all to play for and I think we just need to go in with that mentality."
Livewire forward Zimmie Farquharson has overcome a broken finger and is being considered for inclusion to face the Crows.
