FREMANTLE draftee Ann McMahon is recovering at home, lucky to be alive, following a horrifying Christmas Eve work incident.

McMahon, a West Australian police officer, was on duty on Tuesday afternoon when she was allegedly run down by a 21-year-old male with a stolen car.

The 25-year-old was taken to Perth Hospital, suffering serious injuries that included two broken ribs, a laceration to her forehead and injuries to her hand and wrist.

She has since been released.

Fremantle senior manager of football Joe Brierty said McMahon had the full support of the club in her recovery. 

"We have been in constant contact with Ann and her family," Brierty said. 

"Our thoughts are with Ann, her wife Issy and her extended family at this time."

McMahon was drafted by the Dockers in October, taken with the 35th pick after overcoming a ruptured ACL in 2018 before starring in East Fremantle's premiership winning team as a midfielder/forward.

With the matter before the courts, Fremantle said it would make no further comment.
