WOMEN'S footy in Victoria is just around the corner, with VFLW teams round the state ramping up their pre-season training.

A mammoth four games will kick off round one of the rebel VFLW, held on March 25.

Essendon will wait for the following day to unfurl its premiership flag at the NEC Hangar, hosting Box Hill (who last year played under the name of Hawthorn). The two started to build a nicely developing rivalry prior to their entry to the AFLW competition.

Women's footy stalwart Darebin Falcons has the honour of opening the season, going up against last year's runners-up Southern Saints at La Trobe University.

AFLW clubs Carlton, Geelong, North Melbourne, Collingwood, Essendon and the Western Bulldogs will field VFLW teams in this year's competition.

Box Hill Hawks (Hawthorn), Southern Saints (St Kilda), Casey Demons (Melbourne) and Port Melbourne (Richmond) have aligned teams, while Darebin and Williamstown are standalone clubs.

The fixture for rounds two through to round 13 has also been released.

The girls under-18 Coates Talent League (formerly NAB League) will begin on March 18, with the fixture to be released soon.

Other state leagues across the country will also return soon, with the SANFLW competition commencing on February 17, the QAFLW on April 15. The NTFLW is in its final month of the season after running over summer, while AFL Canberra and AFL Sydney are yet to announce their season dates.
