TWO TRADES and a retirement headlined the action on the second-last day of the AFLW Sign and Trade period.

It was somewhat of a revolving door at Fremantle, adding former North Melbourne small defender/winger Jess Trend and trading foundation Docker and key defender Tayla Bresland to West Coast.

The Trend deal saw North Melbourne obtain pick 44 for the 29-year-old, who has played all 14 possible games for the Roos after being signed from Essendon's VFLW team.

The Dockers then effectively replaced that selection with West Coast's fourth-rounder (currently pick 46), received in return for Bresland.

The 24-year-old was initially a mainstay of Fremantle's defence in its first few years, but a combination of injuries and work commitments during pre-season meant she was unable to break into a strong line-up in 2020.

With West Coast having lost tall back Talia Radan to retirement, Bresland looms as a strong replacement, while the Dockers already had good depth in the area with Alex Williams having missed 2020 with a torn ACL.

The Kangaroos also announced Emma Humphries has been delisted, the 26-year-old midfielder having played six games across two seasons for the club. She had previously recorded 10 games with Melbourne in 2017 and 2018.

Geelong announced 32-year-old Anna Teague had retired, with injuries catching up to the defender. A former WNBL basketballer, Teague was initially a VFLW Cat who played four AFLW games with Melbourne, before re-joining Geelong and adding a further nine games to her career tally.

The Cats have also delisted midfielder Cassie Blakeway (eight games over two seasons) and defender Gemma Wright, who did not make her debut after stepping away for personal reasons.

Following the earlier retirement of skipper Melissa Hickey, all 26 other Cats – including young guns Nina Morrison and Liv Purcell, and veterans Phoebe McWilliams and Aasta O'Connor – have been retained.

Collingwood announced the re-signings of a further seven players, headlined by best and fairest Jaimee Lambert and vice-captain Brianna Davey.

Foundation players Stacey Livingstone and Sophie Casey and forwards Jordy Membrey, Sophie Alexander and Kristy Stratton will once again be pulling on the black-and-white stripes in 2021.

The trade period closes on Wednesday at 2pm AEST, but players can continue to be re-signed until Monday, 17th August. Delisted players are able to find a new home until Friday, 21st August.
