WEST Coast will bring an effort-based game style to its inaugural AFLW season as it prepares to launch the 2020 campaign on Sunday with 10 debutants against Collingwood.

There is already plenty of unknown about the Eagles under coach Luke Dwyer, who said the Eagles were comfortable selecting so many debutants after the group proved themselves over pre-season.

While striving for a historic first AFLW win, Dwyer said a pass mark against the Magpies would be delivering the effort and consistency he wants as trademarks for his team.

"Our game style will be based off effort," Dwyer said.

"We feel confident that we’ve prepared our group in a way that they will go into games feeling confident about their preparation.

"A pass mark for us at the end of this weekend will be that we’ve given a really competitive, consistent effort over four quarters. 

"We know that if we do that we will give ourselves a chance to be in a position to hopefully win the game." 

West Coast named 10 debutants in its inaugural team of 21, including WA draftees Imahra Cameron, Sophie McDonald and Tarnee Tester.

Former Hawthorn VFLW pair Talia Radan and Chantella Perera will also debut, will fellow draftee Kate Orme an emergency.

Dwyer said a large group of debutants was inevitable for an expansion club and he was confident his team would match up well against the Magpies. 

"Ultimate respect for the Collingwood Magpies. They’ve been in the competition for three years, their pre-season form has been really solid," he said. 

"We feel like the balance of our team will match up really well.

"We’ve rewarded strong pre-season training form, but also match simulation (form). 

We looked for a balanced side with experience and youth … and we feel really confident and comfortable with the team we’ve selected

The Magpies will unleash star recruit Brianna Davey against West Coast, but Dwyer said he would not go into the match singling out opposition players to focus on.

The coach said his players would draw confidence from travelling to face Richmond in a pre-season match two weeks ago.   

"Certainly from a preparation sense we’ve learnt a lot from that experience," he said. 

"But we know when that ball is bounced there will be two teams that are going hard at that footy and we want to make a really good step forward in terms of what we want to be about as a team this season."
