THERE were Blues starring all over the park in the team's big win over Adelaide, and four Carlton players have made womens.afl's round four team of the week.

The Lions also had a strong win and have three representatives.

AFLCA VOTES, R4 Pie maintains healthy lead, Turbo a standout

Jasmine Garner and Jaimee Lambert are the only players to have featured in every week, while a further two players have made the side on three occasions (full list below).

The team is selected to mirror the All Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.  

Like the All Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult. 

Defenders: Libby Birch (Melbourne), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Kate Lutkins (Brisbane), Meg McDonald (Geelong), Charlotte Wilson (Carlton)

Harrington set a record for most marks in an AFLW game (13), with teammate Wilson (19 disposals, nine marks) not far behind.

Cat McDonald is gradually working back to her best form after returning from a broken finger, Birch (15 and six marks) was a brick wall for Melbourne and Lutkins (12 and six tackles) even bobbed up for a goal.

Midfielders: Sharni Layton (Collingwood, ruck), Monique Conti (Richmond), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Karen Paxman (Melbourne), Emma Swanson (West Coast), Cathy Svarc (Brisbane)

Magpie Layton (23 hitouts, 15 disposals and a goal) is a vastly improved player in 2020, and was a dominant force on Friday night.

The rest of the starting midfield all got 10 votes from the coaches.

Garner (30) and Conti (28) found plenty of the ball, while Svarc (23, 11 tackles, two goals) had a breakout performance.

Paxman (24, 17 kicks) and Swanson (22 and a goal) were instrumental in their sides' wins.

Forwards: Richelle Cranston (Geelong), Tayla Harris (Carlton), Darcy Vescio (Carlton), Courtney Wakefield (Richmond), Jesse Wardlaw (Brisbane)

It's a Carlton double-act up forward, with Harris (12 touches, seven marks, 2.3) and Vescio (17 and one) in fine attacking form.

Wardlaw's fine season continued with another two goals, Wakefield kicked a career-high three against the Cats, while at the other end of the field, Cranston caused havoc with 15 disposals and 2.3.

Interchange: Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide), Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Jade Pregelj (Gold Coast)

Fremantle vice-captain Bowers (13 disposals, 12 tackles and a goal) was best afield, while fellow midfielders Kearney (26, seven marks) and Lambert (23, one goal) were equally impressive.

Hatchard (27) once again found plenty of the ball, and key back Pregelj was a stubborn thorn in North Melbourne's side.
